Givenchy Rouge Interdit

This lipstick is stolen from my mom's stash. :P
I am now at home in Jakarta and I've been digging my mom's stash lately, and found this baby from Givenchy. My mom doesn't usually use high end make up, she prefers to invest more on skin care ( she has a loooooong list of skin care ) but she saves up on decorative make up. My mom's favorite make up brands have always been maybelline and loreal. So when I saw this lipstick on my mom's stash, I was quite surprised. This must be good.

The design of the packaging is pretty and luxurious. The lipstick comes in a black square plastic bullet that is well made and sturdy, but to be honest, I am not really a fan of the packaging because it catches fingerprints like mad. literally.

Rouge Interdit has  a creamy finish and also glossy-balmy texture which is comfortable on my lips. The color is a vibrant orange with a hint of coral. It is definitely not my usual cup of tea. I haven't got this kind of shade in my stash, so I'm happy with this new addition

Fruity orange applies nicely and doesn't accentuate my lip lines. It does feel like a well made-high end lipstick . It is creamy without being slippery and sets into a smooth color on my lips.
The staying  power is okay for a lipstick with creamy finish, it lasts up to 3 - 4 hours on me with minor eating and drinking. It also has a subtle scent.
It is overall a nice lipstick to have on my make up stash, but to be honest, I don't feel anything groundbreaking.

Disclaimer : I asked my mom what made her on the 1st place buy this lipstick, and she said : " The SA was so nice I couldn't resist."
well.... -______-"

MUA Pro Brow Ultimate Eyebrow Kit

I included this brow kit on my last MUA order because I wanted to try more brow products. My usual brow routine includes my holy grail brow powder from Kryolan, a brow pencil from Essence and a clear brow gel from Essence as well.

The brow kit comes in a black plastic case with a medium brown powder, an ashy nude light brown and a skin tone shade as highlighter. It also comes with a setting brow wax, a tweezer, and mini brow brush. The case also has a built in mirror with a nice size. For 3,5 GBP I think it is a nice -all in one- brow kit.

All the powders are nicely pigmented but they have a lot of fallouts. The texture is really powdery and dusty, a light swipe with the mini brush will end up with a lot of fallouts.
But however, they apply easily and give a nice color to the brow, my only concern is the setting wax being too waxy and greasy. I prefer to set the powder with my clear brow gel from Essence. The tweezer is also a bit downside because it is small but bulky, so it doesn't work properly as a tweezer.

I overall think this brow kit isn't a bad product at all, especially with the price tag, but I wouldn't repurchase it and I still prefer my old brow routine with the Kryolan powder, Essence brow pencil and clear brow gel.

What is your brow routine?

MAC Plumful

Just one day before my trip to Asia, I bought this lipstick from MAC. To be honest, I am not a fan of MAC Lipsticks no matter what the finishes are, but I recently stumbled on Temptalia's review on this lipstick , so after some swatching at the counter, I decided to take this home.

Plumful is not limited, but it recently came with the 'Year of The Snake' collection with the snake print embossed on the lipstick. I think the emboss looks so beautiful. As usual special / limited collection of MAC, this lipstick costs 1€ more expensive.

Plumful is a mauve-y pink berry with a hint of plum. Color wise, I think it is a really nice color. It is just the perfect amount of everything. A perfect amount of pink, mauve and plum. Nothing is overdone. It is also a good option for everyday plum shade and would look nice on any skin tone.

But texture and formula wise, once again I am not impressed. I don't know what's wrong between me and MAC Lipsticks, but I just don't find them comfortable on my lips. The texture is between creamy and matte, and it sets to my lip lines. It feels like I have something 'heavy' on my lips. Looking at the pictures above, I actually like how it looks like on me, but on real life, believe me, Plumful looks dreadful on my lips. I know a lot of people love it, so I think it is just me that has bad luck with MAC lipsticks.
As any other MAC lipsticks, this one also has a subtle vanilla scent.

I think at this point, I should ( for awhile ) stop trying my luck with MAC lipsticks and better save my money for the future. :P

Update : I finally found a way to make this lipstick works for me, which is to apply a moisturizing lip balm underneath. It helps the texture to be 'softer' but still , it is not my fave lipstick on my make up stash.

Essence XXXL Shine Lip Gloss

I really don't know what happened to me, but I have been buying too many lip glosses recently. I am usually not a lip gloss person since I don't like how do they feel on my lips. But, well..

Nude Kiss is part of Essence's new sortiment for spring and summer 2013, it looks pretty on the tube so I thought "why not?", and the price doesn't hurt either ( retails for 1,99€ ).
Nude Kiss comes in a clear plastic ( or acrylic? ) tube with silver cap. It has a doe foot applicator which I prefer than brush applicator for lip gloss. The packaging is really typical lip gloss so I don't have a lot to explain.

Nude Kiss is a rosy pink lip gloss with super fine shimmer particles. The silver shimmers are visible on the tube but once applied on the lips, they are no longer obvious but definitely shiny like the name says. The texture is sticky but not overly sticky, so it's still comfortable. To be honest, I kinda like the sticky feeling for my lips right now, because my lips have been so chapped and dry due to the crispy winter and the stickiness makes my lips feel less chappy.

I overall love the color and how it looks on my lips. My lips look more plump and shiny but in a good way. The pigmentation is also good, and it can be worn alone without any lipstick underneath. It has a sweet smell like vanilla? but the scent is nice and not overwhelming.
I think I am slowly becoming a lip gloss person :$

Essence Clear & Matte Make Up

Let me ask, who doesn't love a good bargain? I obviously do love good bargain. When I was browsing around my local Rossmann, I found some Essence products marked down to 0,95€ including this clear & matt oil free foundation ( also including the famous gel eye liner! of course I picked up 2, back ups, you know ;P ). And yes you're right, I couldn't resist this foundation just out of curiosity and the 0,95€ price tag. I meant, it's 0,95€! It's like you pay 1€ and you still get 5 cent back, you totally understand the reason behind it, yes? ;P

The packaging is typical Essence Foundation, simple yet unappealing. But it's practical though and it's cheap so I'll keep my mouth shut :P

The foundation has liquid but not watery consistency. At first hand swatch on direct sun light I thought it looked too orange, but fortunately it didn't look orange on my face. Scent-wise I didn't smell anything strong, only a bit of soft powder scent which I like.

BEFORE - BARE FACE

AFTER

First thing first, it surprised me how light the color is, once applied on my face. But since it's winter and my skin is quite pale, it's not a problem for me. The foundation feels comfortable on my skin, it blends easily. The coverage is medium and it evens out my complexion as well. The finish is matte just like its name, but it accentuates my dry patches because it is a bit too matte for my current skin condition.
It's also written on the back of the tube that the foundation promises to be moisturizing , but I must say it is not moisturizing enough. It is not dry though, but I think it's supposed to do a better job.
The staying power is great, and the oil control is amazing. I believe this will be a really good foundation for people with oily skin.
This foundation usually retails for 3,99€ which I think is an okay price for the performance. I don't regret that I decided to pick it up for only 0,95€ because it is a really nice foundation though I won't reach for it often in winter, but I know it will do me good in hot summer days!

Succulent Pomegranate

The dept.store where I work , was having a 30% discount for all the employees last week including all make up and perfumes which are usually really really rarely on sale. I saw that as a gift from above  (*angels singing*) and I felt like it was such a waste not to use the opportunity. ( a good excuse, right? ;P ).
After reading this post from lovely Lena, I actually wanted to try the regular rouge volupte, but I accidentally swatched the sheer candy one and fell in love with the pretty sheer color.

I was really confused which one to take between succulent pomegranate #04 and mouthwatering berry #05, and was really near to get both of them ( hey, it was 30% off! ;P ). But after a loooooooooong consideration, I limited myself to take only 1 and I took #04; Succulent Pomegranate.
Rouge Volupte Sheer Candy ( RVSC ) comes in typical YSL metal bullet, only in silver instead of the trademark gold. I am to be honest, not really a fan of the packaging, because I feel it looks a bit tacky  in silver ( I prefer the gold one ) and it catches fingerprints like CRAZY.

Succulent Pomegranate is a bright redish coral shade with a hint of pink. It has no shimmer but has nice slightly shiny balm finish.

please pardon a string of hair there!

After few weeks wearing this RVSC, I am now having mixed feelings towards it. As much as I like the color and the nice balmy finish, I started to develop some dislikes along with the likes. My first dislike is that even though it looks moisturizing and balmy, it is actually a bit drying. It feels moisturizing and hydrating for the 1st 30 minutes, then the good feeling disappears. The color also doesn't last for a long time, it lasts actually for a really short time, like 1 hour I would say. But it leaves stain that lasts longer, only the stain tends to be darker around the lip lines. I know with the balmy texture, I shouldn't expect a long wearing lipstick, but with the price I paid, I expect more quality.
The 2nd dislike is, it settles a bit to my lips lines and it is def not a good thing for my chappy winter lips.
But it's not all about the dislikes because I also love this baby at the same time! I love how it is so easy to wear and it looks effortless as well! It feels nice on my lips though I have to re apply like every 2 hours. I also love the color and how it leaves a nice pink stain after the balmy layer disappears.
And the fruity mango scent is so sweet but not overwhelming.

Overall, RVSC is a nice thing to have. But for me, it's not a must have. Would I repurchase it or  buy another shade? No, except they are like 70% cheaper ;)

Have you tried any of YSL lippie?

Pam

Very Very Raspberry

From now on, I won't say that "I am not a lip gloss person" anymore. People change, okay? :P

Catrice just released its new permanent range for spring/summer 2013 and they have a lot of new shades for the infinite shine lip gloss . The combination between a pinky coral lip gloss and pretty golden shimmers made me give up and picked this up.

I don't think the name describes the shade really well, because I don't think it looks like raspberry at all. Very Very Raspberry is a beautiful pinky coral lip gloss with quite a lot of golden shimmer particles. When I swatched it at the drugstore, I was sold at how beautiful it looked on my hands.

On my lips, it still looks as nice as it does on my hand. I like the fact that the golden shimmers are still visible. The shimmers are not chunky at all and they look nice. The pigmentation is good and it takes only 2 layers to make it opaque. It also looks good as a top coat over lipstick.
It feels comfortable on my lips, a bit sticky but nothing too much. As I have ever mentioned, I kinda like the sticky feeling in winter because my lips feel more moisturized and hydrated. The lip gloss isn't drying as well and the scent is sweet like vanilla kind of smell.
Overall, I must say, I love it!

Pam
