Essence Shimmer Pearls and My Go To Summer Make Up

It's been a long time since the last time I purchased limited edition products from the drugstore. But one evening after work, I was browsing in the drugstore and spotted an entire display of the latest Essence limited edition "Me and My Ice Cream", new and untouched.
There was no tester at the display so I blindly picked up the shimmer pearls and cream blush out of curiosity.

The shimmer pearls come in a plastic pot with a cute design printed on the lid. The packaging does look a bit too childish in my opinion, but I have never had shimmer pearls before so I was very curious to try it out.

The shimmer pearls together appear kind of translucent on the skin. It contains micro glitters but they are very subtle and barely visible on the face. As the shimmer is very subtle, it is safe to use it as all over finishing powder. I must say, I didn't really get the purpose of these shimmer pearls. They give nice glow and mattifying finish to the face but that finish can be achieved using just plain mattifying powder. They are also not 'shimmering' enough to be used as highlighter.
Maybe it is only me who didn't really get it. Any of you have suggestion on how to use this kind of shimmer pearls?

oh and btw, here is my go to summer make up, and I used this shimmer pearls as 'all over powder'.

Have a nice day, everyone!

Love,
Pam

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation

Finally!! Finally this foundation is mine! *yey*
I have read a lot of great reviews on this foundation, but this particular review from sleepandwater made me want to get this foundation as soon as possible. So without further ado, let's go to the review.

The foundation comes in a slim glass bottle which looks sleek and expensive. It also comes with a pump which is a plus point. My original healthy mix foundation comes in a plastic bottle which makes it more travel friendly than this one but less 'expensive looking'.

My shade is #51 Light vanilla, the same shade like my original healthy mix. I must say, the color is a bit too light for me at the moment but once it oxidizes and I set it with powder, it doesn't look very pale on me.
The foundation has thin, liquid consistency. It is less 'gell-y' in comparison to the original healthy mix. I like this consistency better because it blends easier and it feels very lightweight on the skin. The foundation is also lightly scented, but I like the scent very much. It smells sooooo good, kind of powdery and fresh.

This foundation gives my complexion a very natural flawless finish. It is like my face is naturally flawless ( which is sadly not the case ). It brightens up my complexion and covers up imperfections. It doesn't cling on dry patches and big pores and my skin feels very hydrated. The coverage is sheer but definitely buildable. I usually apply more around my cheeks where I need the most coverage. In comparison to the original healthy mix, this one has less coverage but therefore, more natural and radiant.
I have combination to oily skin and since it is now summer in Berlin, my skin tends to get oilier than usual. But this foundation , despite of its dewy finish, doesn't make my face look like disco ball. The oil control is surprisingly impressive. I apply this foundation using Real Techniques buffing brush as beauty blender tends to absorb the product too much.
After few weeks using this foundation literally every single day, I have to say I prefer this one than the original healthy mix. I regret the fact that it took me so long to get my hands on this one. It is a very nice foundation for its price tag. This foundation reminds me a lot of the Guerlain Lingerie De Peau which retails for 47€ while this one retails for 12€.

This foundation now slowly became my holy grail.

Pam

La vie Est Belle

La vie est Belle - life is beautiful, what a beautiful name for a perfume, isn't it? I have recently purchased it while the dept store where I work part time was having 20% + 19% off discounts for the employees.
I had been wanting to buy the perfume for so long but it was quite expensive so I didn't really want to spend so much money on a perfume. But it smells so good that I finally caved in. Fortunately it was on discount so I didn't feel really guilty :p

As describing perfume is not my specialty, let me quote this from fragrantica.com here ;
"La Vie Est Belle is a new Lancome fragrance, available on the market from fall 2012. The concept of this fragrance is centered on the idea of natural and simple beauty, freedom from conventions and the choice of once own vision of happiness. The fragrance is a kind of outlook on life, inspired by joy and pleasure in small things.
This gourmand yet elegant composition is developed by perfumers Olivier Polge,Dominique Ropion and Anne Flipo. The final formula is the result achieved after three years of probation and 5000 versions. Iris is the key ingredient of the perfume, surrounded by orange blossoms and jasmine in the heart. The composition’s opening provides fruity flavors of black currant and pear, while the base is warm, gourmand and powdery due to almond-like accords of tonka bean, praline, patchouli and vanilla.
The flacon is a redesigned version of the classic Lancome bottle from 1949. Actress Julia Roberts is the face of the campaign, shot by director Tarsem Singh."
Top Notes : Pear , Blackcurrant
Heart Notes : Iris, Jasmine and orange blossom
Base Notes : Patchouli, Praline, Tonka Beans and Vanilla

To me, la vie est belle is the perfect scent for any kind of season. It smells kind of opulent the first time you spray it , then it becomes warmer but not too overwhelming. It is a bit on the heavy side, and more suitable for colder months, but it is summer now in Berlin and I think la vie est belle smells just fine for summer. Though on very hot days, I usually switch to Alien by Mugler or my The Body Shop Cherry Blossom.
I am in love with this perfume. It smells soooo good it is almost therapeutic . The longevity is impressive as well.

Please tell me your current favorite perfume ;)

Love,
Pam

Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick + Let's move to Bloglovin!

ps : before we go to the review, I just want to give a hint of how you can continue follow my blog since GFC / Google Reader will be gone by tomorrow.
you can follow my blog via Bloglovin, and facebook. all links are on the right side bar on my blog!

My Bourjois collection starts to grow bigger and bigger. Bourjois is only limited available in Berlin but I travel quite often so it is not a problem to get my hands on Bourjois since it's widely available in a lot of countries.
I spotted this newly launched lipstick range on my trip to Riga-Latvia and picked up 2 shades ; #04 Rose Tweed and #05 Brun Boheme.

The lipstick comes in a sleek glossy black square-shaped tube. It is packaged elegantly and looks like something from the high end price range. I like Bourjois packaging in general, they look unique and very 'Bourjois' in a way and don't look cheap.

#04 Rose Tweed is a beautiful nude pink. It doesn't appear washed out on the lips, a very wearable shade. #05 Brun Boheme is a old dusky pink with a hint of brown. It leans more to light terracota shade on my lips.

#04 Rose Tweed

#05 Brun Boheme

Both lipsticks apply smoothly on the lips. They glide on with no effort but not in any way slippery. The texture is creamy but lightweight. The pigmentation is great but they can be applied directly from the bullet, no need for lip brush or lip liner because they don't bleed. They also don't set into the lip lines. The finish is a semi matte.
I really like how they feel on the lips , they feel very hydrating and moisturizing and I love how wearable both shades are. The staying power is average for a creamy-moisturizing lipstick.

This is what Bourjois say ;
It’s ready to wear formula is enriched with ¼ of pure laque for a radiant, glossy finish and orchid blossom extract so it glides onto the lips leaving them feeling smooth, hydrated and protected for up to 10 hours.
A “must-have” lipstick for every woman’s make-up bag. Tested and approved by fashion lovers.
Available in 18 fashionable shades from natural nudes to pretty pinks, colour-blocking corals and classic reds, there are so many to choose from! A shade for every outfit and style!
Stylish and sleek in design, it is the perfect fashion accessory for that trendsetting smile!

Overall, I love these lipsticks!

love,
Pam
