I LOVE PERFUME TAG

After reading this TAG on lovely sleepandwater, I feel like doing it too, since I've just recently found my long lost love on perfumes. Compare to my unhealthy appetite for make up and skin care, I think that my appetite for perfumes is still considered 'healthy' ;P

1. What was your first perfume you ever purchased?

To be honest, my first ever perfume was Lacoste, Touch of Pink. But it was given to me by my mum. So, the first perfume I bought by myself was Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue. I love it so much, I think I already used up more than 3 bottles for the past 3 years.

2. What's your signature perfume?

My signature perfume usually changes, depends on the season. But my all time favorite that I wear no matter what season, is Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue. And lately, I've been wearing Roberto Cavalli by Roberto Cavalli so often.

3. What's your most recent perfume purchase?

Jo Malone Vanilla and Anise Cologne, and Roberto Cavalli by Roberto Cavalli. Perfume is something I usually don't buy regularly because of the hefty price, and also because I try my best to limit myself *cry*. But around last month or two, I bought these two perfumes in a row because the dept.store where I work was having a christmas sale ( 30% !!! ) for the employees.

4. What perfume would you wear at nighttime/date night?

Estee Lauder Sensous which is my favorite deep-heavy scent that is not too overwhelming and I feel sexy every time I have this on and Summer Rose by Stella McCartney, though its name is Summer Rose, it is not summery at all ( imho ), it is deep and quite thick so perfect for night time or date night.

5. What's your favorite spring/summer perfume?

Elizabeth Arden Green Tea and The Body Shop Cherry Blossom. Both of them are really fresh, summery and lightweight. I am not a fan of wearing 'perfume' in summer, so I prefer lightweight refreshing body sprays.

6. What's your favorite fall/winter perfume?

Once again, Jo Malone Vanilla and Anise Cologne and Roberto Cavalli by Roberto Cavalli. Both are deep, sweet spicy, and heavy scents.

7. What's your favorite scent category (fruity, floral, fresh, oriental, woody)?
I love oriental and woody scent the most, I also love spicy scent. 

8. What perfume are you currently lusting after?

Oh I have a long list of perfume I am currently lusting after, to name a few ; Chanel Noir, YSL Manifesto, Thierry Mugler Alien, and  Lancome La vie est Belle, .

9. What fragrance/cologne do you like on your significant other?
Kenzo Homme EdT, why? Because it's my father's signature scent, and I am a true daddy's little girl.

Madam Butterfly

Catrice recently launched a new limited edition called ; Neo Geisha. This collection has been highly anticipated since the press releases were really promising. So when I spotted a full display of this LE on my local DM, I happily swatched every single eye shadows, and the lip and cheek colors. Unfortunately, I found all the eye shadows are crumbly and didn't give a lot of colors. So I picked up only this lip and cheek color in "Madam Butterfly".

The packaging is not the most beautiful I've ever seen from Catrice, but it is practical and well made. The case feels sturdy and durable. I use my Real Techniques stippling brush to apply the cream blush on my cheeks and my fingers to apply it on my lips.

Madam Butterfly is a typical me mate bright berry pink. It is more a redish pink than Barbie pink which I think complements my skin tone really well. The texture is cream to powder finish .

On my cheeks, Madam Butterfly is a nice pink berry shade that gives a beautiful healthy glow. But the color is easily dupable and I have already owned a lot of similar shades. But on the lips, it is surprisingly beautiful! I really really like it. The texture is matte but not completely matte, it feels some way velvety. I'd say the finish is velvet rather than matte. It could be a bit drying after awhile, but if I apply lip balm underneath, it is totally fine. The staying power on both cheeks and lips is great as well.

Overall, I think it is a really nice product and also travel friendly , since you have a blush and lipstick in 1 item, and you also can apply it on your cheeks on your lips with your fingers without any brushes.

Too Much Fun

I recently ordered a few things from MUA website and they were having a GWP promo, so I got this sheer finish lip gloss in shade "Too Much Fun" for free.

The lip gloss comes in a squeezing tube which is made from a very thin plastic material, so it is really flimsy. And I find it a bit difficult to apply evenly without any applicator, because the texture of this lip gloss is a bit liquid-y. 

Too Much Fun is a bright redish-pink color without any shimmer particles. According to its name which is sheer lip gloss, I think it's a bit misleading. Too Much Fun is not sheer imho. It is of course not 100% opaque like a lipstick, but sheer it is not. 

One thing I dislike the most from this sheer lip gloss is the scent. OMG it is so extremely super duper strongly sweet. Don't get me wrong because I do love scented make up, but this one is just TOO MUCH with all capitals. And to make it worse, the scent keeps lingering as long as you're still having the lip gloss on your lips. 

On my lips, Too Much Fun is actually a really nice color. It is like a wearable redish pink that is not too bright or not too muted. It took me more than 3 swipes to make the gloss applied evenly because the squeezing tube isn't helping. It is not too sticky and feels moisturizing and hydrating on my lips. I like the finish but can't stand the heavy scent. :/

Worth The Hype #2 ?

Hello guys!! Here is part 2 of my 'Worth The Hype?" serie. ( See my 1st part HERE ).

Essence I Love Extreme Volume Mascara is really famous and loved and hyped here in Germany. As some of you might have known, Essence is a drugstore brand with really affordable price. It is a German brand, so it's even cheaper here .

I Love Extreme Mascara comes in a black plastic tube with its name written in a bright hot pink color. I love the packaging and the contrast between black and hot pink.

The wand is HUGE like really HUGE. And huge mascara brush/wand is a big enemy for my super short pathetic barely there lashes. The huge brush makes the application really difficult because I always get mascara on my lids.

Despite of the huge brush, this mascara is not a bad mascara. The consistency is a bit wet, which I like. It separates my lashes well and also it elongates my lashes. But I don't see that it gives enough volume to my lashes as the name promises. For a drugstore product, I think it is a really good one, though I still prefer my Benefit They're Real mascara over this one..

Does it worth the hype? I think it depends. I can totally understand why a lot of people love it. I meant, my lashes are basically nothing to start with, and it does make my lashes look longer and curler and visible so I can't really blame this mascara. But in other hand, I also think that this mascara isn't groundbreaking enough and I am sure that there is at least one mascara on the drugstore price segment that is better than this one but doesn't get so much attention.

So to conclude this post, for me, this mascara doesn't really worth the hype.

Mega Melon

If you read my 1st chubby stick post, I wrote that I would not buy another color except they're on sale for 50% off. As a man of my word , when I found this mini version of chubby stick for 6€, I took this home. ( okay, mathematically it's not 50% off because it's not a full size, but anyway.... ;P ).

There was only 1 shade available that I spotted which is ; Mega Melon. The mini version comes in almost identical design, only the cap is different. The mini version comes with a plastic cap while the full size has metal cap. I think the mini version is really practical to be carried inside my bag.

Mega melon is a orange-coral shade with a hint of pink. The texture is typical chubby stick which is balmy and moisturizing. The pigmentation is more on the sheer side, but in comparison to Super Strawberry, Mega melon is more pigmented. 

Formula wise, I've been into balmy lip products lately ( mainly because of winter season , because matte lipstick in winter is a nightmare ) . I like the texture and formulation of Chubby Stick because it is moisturizing and it feels hydrating and smooth on my lips. 

Overall, I am happy with this purchase, especially because I picked it up only with 6€. The mini version doesn't really bother me as I rarely use up a product because I regularly switch the products I use. 

Have you tried this Chubby Stick? or do you have any recommendation for balmy-lipstick?
