Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner

Dolly Wink is probably the most talked about and favored liquid pen eye liner among the beauty community.  The brand is famous for its eye lashes, eyeliner and other eye make up stuffs like mascara, brow gel, etc.. I am not familiar with the muse slash owner, Tsubasa Masuwaka, but she looks so pretty and kawaii in all the Dolly Wink packaging. I can't believe she is actually a mom!! 

Anyway, during my recent trip to Asia, I picked up this famous liquid pen eyeliner. 

The packaging is typical asian cosmetics, very cute and eye catching! The pen itself is pink and covered with light purple flowers. The tip is very thin, sharp and precise which makes the application easy and almost foolproof.  The pigmentation however, is not as jet-black as I imagined it to be. I find that my Kiss me Heroine liquid pen eyeliner is more deep black. But the pigmentation doesn't really bother me. 

The consistency is a bit watery and it doesn't dry very fast, so make sure you have to give it some times to dry before you blink, otherwise you'll end up with eyeliner smearing all over the lids. 

One thing I notice is that this eyeliner is not waterproof, so it does smudge on me after some hours which is inevitable for my watery eyes and oily lids. It is long wearing though, for something that is not waterproof, but I wish it was waterproof so maybe it'd stay on even longer. 

Price wise, I bought it for Rp 215.000 or ca. 14€ / US$19 which is not cheap but I think it performs pretty well though unfortunately not good enough that I'd repurchase it. 

PS : How is the weather where you live? We have 34'C today which is the hottest for June for the past 50 years!! I stay at home though since I hate warm weather. LOL.

KATE Powderless Liquid for COVER

This foundation was gifted to me from Sharlynn from Theblackmentosbeautybox in our beauty swap. Kate is a daughter brand from Kanebo, widely available in some Asian countries. Powderless liquid sounds promising so I was so excited to try this one!

The foundation comes in a plastic bottle with a big pump. The packaging is not the most beautiful I've seen but it is practical, though a bit bulky. 

My shade is OC-B which has beige-yellow undertone. I asked Sharlynn to choose the right shade for me and she did well, because our shades are similar.

The consistency is very thick and it is not easily blend able.. I find application with brush tend to get streaky so I prefer damped sponge / beauty blender. The foundation delivers matte - powdery finish but nothing mask-like or dull on my combination skin. Instead, once it is well set, my skin looks flawless  and very even! The coverage is decent and I can go on without concealer which a plus point. As the foundation dries up to completely matte finish, I don't need to powder it as well upon application. 

Some people complain that this foundation clogs pores and accentuates dry patches like crazy but fortunately it doesn't happen to me. I don't think this foundation is clogging my pores, but it really can accentuate dry patches which I think is quite normal for a matte foundation, so make sure your skin is well moisturized beforehand. Keep in mind that this is medium- full coverage foundation so it does feel a bit heavy and def not lightweight. This foundation is also not very build able as it can get cakey when it's layered up. But for me, one layer of this foundation is enough to even out my complexion and cover up some rednesses/blemishes. 

The staying power is just okay though. I need to blot my Tzone after 4-5 hours , so it doesn't stay completely matte for a long time. 

Overall, I think this foundation is a good one if you want more coverage and matte finish. The price point is not cheap for a drugstore foundation at S$ 35 but I think it performs well. 

I won't recommend it if you have dry skin though, but normal-oily skin will find this foundation enjoyable.

999 Red

I've purchased this lipstick for quite awhile but totally forgot to review it on the blog. It was another impulsive purchase since I already have 10000000 red lipsticks. But this is a good one so I think it deserves a review :-D!

I have never tried any lipstick from Dior but this one is a good start! I was mainly browsing the Dior display at a dept. store and since it was only a display, not a counter, there was no SA at that moment so I had enough time to browse around by myself.. Then I realized the dept. store was having 20% off all lipsticks from the beauty department so of course I had to take the chance, agree?!

I picked up the shade number 999 - Rouge Ara. It is a bright classic chili red, not as vibrant as the Rimmel Apocalipse in Big Bang, but not as dark as Shiseido RD 514. It has creamy-semi glossy finish. The texture is creamy and emollient, very comfortable on the lips and such an ease to apply. The pigmentation is great and it is not drying either.

The formula reminds me slightly of my Holy Grail high end lipstick of all time ; the Burberry Lip Cover. Only the Dior one is creamier hence the staying power is not as long as the Burberry one.

Packaging wise, it comes in a navy blue bullet with Dior 'Lady Carnage' print all over it. The packaging doesn't look as luxurios as the Burberry in my opinion but it is well made and sturdy. The lipstick is mildly scented, a floral-powdery scent but nothing overwhelming.

The biggest downside with this lipstick is the price. It retails for €34,99 for 3,5gr. Definitely overpriced as Burberry costs 'only' €26 or Chanel at €28-€32 for the same amount of product. 

Rouge Dior Rouge lipstick is def a high end quality but I do think it is too expensive for what it is. I'm glad I managed to get it at 20% off. xD

DIOR Addict Fluid Stick - Review and Swatches

It took me awhile to finally get my hands on this new lip product from Dior. Since it has been literally everywhere, I just couldn't resist to give it a try. 

I picked up the shade #479 - Magique. I promised myself not to pick up any reddish shade as I have already too many reds on my stash. So I went for pink instead. The BA was so lovely and she gave me a sample of 4 other shades, so here I am able to do swatches of the shades :

#479-Magique is a medium pink. It is slightly cool toned but still appears warm enough against my complexion.

#754 - Pandora is probably one of the most famous shade on the range. It is a reddish raspberry shade.

#575 - Wonderland is similar to Pandora, only a tad lighter and leans more to fuchsia. 

#551 - Aventure is a beautiful orange shade, it is on my bucket list now.

#338 - Mirage is a peachy nude shade which I surprisingly like. It is on my bucket list as well , maybe I will consider to get it in duty free when it's much cheaper. 

Magique is actually lighter in real life, the lighting made it look darker here.

Dior claims it to be a hybrid lip product, something that is not a lipstick nor a lip gloss, something in between I'd say.  The first time I tried it on at Dior counter, I fell in love instantly. I love how it feels a bit 'cooling' on the lips and how smooth it applies. The formula is indeed no lipstick or lip gloss. It is more like the slightly thicker glossy stain, with less drying formula and less alcohol-y feeling. Right after application, it feels a bit sticky but soon the stickiness disappears and comes a balmy feeling on the lips. It feels hydrating and it is indeed not drying at all. 

The product is very lightweight but has decent color pay off. All the 5 shades I've tried have great pigmentation. It is water based and not waxy based as most lip products, hence the feather light texture. 

In comparison to the YSL glossy stain, the Dior Fluid Stick is less sticky and appears more even. The color fades gradually and doesn't set to the lip edges like the glossy stain does. I prefer the Dior ones way better than the YSL ones. Dior also beats YSL in terms of packaging in my opinion.

In comparison to Lancome lip lover, they're both completely different products in my opinion even though both claim to be a mix between  lipstick and lip gloss. Lip lover is more a lip gloss with thicker consistency while fluid stick is really something in between. Lip lover applies sheerer while fluid stick is more opaque. Both are great products and I cant really choose 1 out of 2 because they are really different. 

If you want lip gloss, go for the lip lover. But if you want 'lip stain' then go for the fluid stick. OR if you have problem like I do, go for both. :p

overall, the fluid sticks dont disappoint me and I am very likely getting other shades.

Holiday Haul... and some life updates

Hi guys! How are you doing?? After 2 weeks of holiday in Jakarta-my hometown and Singapore, I am finally back to sunny but breezy Berlin. Of course it is not easy for me to adjust my holiday mood back to 'reality' with work and uni but life doesn't have any rewind or pause button so I'd better adjust!

My holiday was amazing. I spent mostly my time with family, and good friends of mine - eating local food that I've missed and visiting a lot of new hang out places in town. 2 weeks was not enough at all. That's why now I am having hard time adjusting myself to my Berlin routine. 

Anyway, before my holiday, I promised myself not to buy too many make up and focus more on spending for asian skin care which I did, but still, I bought some make up as well ( how could I resist?? ) So, here is the damage I made..

Finally managed to stock up on my holy grail Josie Maran Argan Oil, 20% off from Sephora Singapore!

I was 2 days in Singapore during my holiday, and was so lucky because Sephora Singapore was having 20% off all store for Sephora member . I was not a member but one Sephora lady told me about the promo and asked me to become the member so I joined and got 20% off my purchase that day. The prices at Sephora Singapore are slightly more expensive than in the USA, but with the 20% off ( + 7% VAT Refund if you are not Singaporean and spend more than SGD 100 in one receipt ), I think the prices are okay. They have a lot of brands that are not available in stores in Germany like Tarte, Josie Maran, Marc Jacobs Beauty ( I tried both of their foundations but they didn't wow me.. the blushes felt powdery and not pigmented enough, the eyeliners were okay but not good enough for the price, so I picked up only 1 lipstick which turned out that the color I picked up was the wrong color. #annoying! ) , Too faced, Urban Decay, Make Up Forever, Shu Uemura, etc etc.. 

I shopped a lot at watsons as well, mostly cute - kawaii asian make up and face sheet masks.. 

Judging from my haul, I think I will have enough blogging material for the rest of the year. lol.

My 1st time trying TWG Macarons and was positively surprised!

It was heartbreaking for me to say goodbye to my family and friends after 2 weeks together but my family will come and visit me in 2 months so I am excited! I will also finish my bachelor in a year, and plan to go back to Indonesia afterwards to help my father with his business and also create my own business ( which I am so excited about! ). 

This 2 week holiday had given me a good recharge. For the past year I've been very busy with uni and work, and have barely time to switch off and take some break. I am currently in a phase where I am so bored with Berlin.. I feel homesick almost everyday for the past year which is weird for me because usually I feel very content in Berlin and have no problem living far from home as long as I get to see my family regularly through Skype or once in a year holiday. But this past year has been very very hard for me.. My study contributes the most to my frustration. I even thought to give up my study and just go home and start working with my father ( this thought is still there somewhere in my head, but for now I am determined to finish my last year of uni ). I am lucky to have parents who are very supportive. My parents told me I am free to do what I want and what makes me happy, even if that means I will go home after 5 years of college and Uni with no title. But after long consideration, I decided that I will continue my last 2 terms with less pressure and nothing to lose motto and hopefully I will make it! 

Anyway, enough of my rambling! I am now planning a euro trip for my family who are coming in July!
